SHEET SHELF
SHEET SHELF impresses with its simplicity. Instead of countless dowels, shelves and screws, only a single plate is used. You hang it on the wall and unfold it. First the vertical supports, then the horizontal shelves are unfolded. They get their stability by being clamped in the negative of the predecessors. Through this process, two contradictory properties are required of the material: on the one hand, stability in load-bearing areas, on the other hand, elasticity to enable it to be unfolded. A 2mm thick composite, which consists of aluminium cover layers and a core of polypropylene, combines these requirements. It is extremely light, very stable and a flexible hinge is created when the cover layer is milled on both sides.
