THRIVE for RADO
To take a closer look at the kinetic shop window installation THRIVE, the audience has to pause briefly: This is the only way to follow the movements. Fixed between small, computer-controlled motors, the elasticity and suppleness of rattan, the raw material used, are expressed.
The originally linear material begins to twist and always stages itself anew. Floral objects made of rattan stretch over the shop window like a curtain made of filigree cane. Impulse-like movements breathe life into the natural raw material, so the viewer is shown the unique materiality. Various variants of the installation were presented in the RADO Store Vienna from May 2019 to January 2020 and won the Rado Star Prize Austria.
